In 1912, Roland Bautwell built the Craftwood Inn which represents a refined and beautiful example of Arts and Crafts design. Arriving from England, Bautwell gained recognition and notoriety as an architect, builder, photographer and coppersmith. Bautwell was part of the Arts and Crafts movement which blended natural earth elements into a utilitarian design. The Craftwood Inn was converted into a restaurant in 1940. Its exquisite dining was a popular attraction for dignitaries and celebrities including Bing Crosby, Cary Grant, Lawrence Welk and Liberace. Come join us for a gourmet breakfast inside this magnificently and ornately designed and crafted building, which has been a centerpiece of Manitou architecture for over a century.
