Description: The Palmer Lake Historical Society and the Western Museum of Mining & Industry are pleased to announce the second presentation of "A Tale of Two Husteds" by Jack Anthony!

About six miles south of Palmer Lake, East Husted and West Husted sprang up as railroad "tank towns" for the Denver & Rio Grande and the Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe railroads. The two Husted depots midway between Colorado Springs and Palmer Lake became a place to pick up passengers and shipments of agricultural products. Both were thriving communities until the early 1920s. Then, development of the United States Air Force Academy in the mid-1950s caused the remaining buildings to be either moved or demolished. Only the Reynolds Ranch House remains, still in its original location east of Interstate 25 on the property of the Western Museum of Mining & Industry on Colorado Springs' north side.

Jack Anthony is a graduate of the Air Force Academy. For almost 40 years, he has served in various military, intelligence, and NASA roles as an engineer, educator, leader, and operator. Jack successfully spear-headed the effort to have the Palmer Lake Star included on the State Register of Historic Properties. His presentation includes both sides and a short video.
